I'm from Texas, and Texas laws can't supercede a Federal Hazmat reg. I'm a gun owner, have a CCP, and would love to carry in a big truck, solely for protection - been in some harrowing scenarios. However, IF it was ever discovered, I'm not into jail.

That said, even if it were legal, I've never seen ANY trucking company that allowed firearms in a CMV, so unless you're an O/O, it's irrelevant.

Doesn't Texas have a minimum requirement for gun ownership?:biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

What, as in you have to have 3-4 before you can cal yourself a gun owner? Perhaps, and I'm slacking, I only have 2.

Kinda like a "two drink minimum" at some nightclubs?

Then you need to get a couple more! Someone told me it was a 7 gun minimum, including pets. :biggrin_25524::biggrin_2559:

Hmm.. "a CDL driver may carry a gun in the truck with him or her, PROVIDING that it does not violate any other STATE law, in which the driver will be passing through"

So if you're speeding or have a DOT violation, does that mean you're in trouble for the weapon?

Only when clubbing baby seals, while drinking untaxed whiskey.

    I guess I'm not a gun owner. 3 total and nothing over .22 :biggrin_2557:

I'm sure this is going to sound stupid, but I keep hearing all these people (not just on here) talk about carrying guns on them, and with them everywhere they go. I've never once been in a situation where I thought I would need or want a gun. What kind of places are you going to that makes you think that carry a weapon is going to make things better for you? Seems to me like it's just more likely that an accidental death is going to occur.

My brother had a crazy man push his car with his daughter inside into an intersection in Miami. He drew on the guy and the guy backed off and hauled butt.

Believe it or not some of us don't park in nice safe truck stops. Some people do "smash and grabs" in Birmingham and Montgomery AL. Or rob you leaving your truck for a shower.
