That’s where I get lost. I called my friend the tech recently, when my blower motor went out. Got one wholesale, asked him about moving my thermostat. I got a half hour explanation about all the variables. Lol Something about demand call time, or something, all of which, even if I understood it, I’d have forgotten already. Thermostats ain’t what they used to be. Lol

YEah but lets go back a few years. Skip all the technical bs about air polutants and high line explosions and this and that. WHen in doubt and a/c cutch keeps cycling and its hot as hell out. No time to drop truck off at shop and sweat another day. Throw a dam can in the system and move on. I bought an old 5.0 mustang a few years back a a toy. System was acting funky. It was the old reigerant. R-12? cant remeber the name. I went to autozone and threw 2 cans of 134 in it and it stayed cold as hell for 2 years till i sold it. Even so, i dnt think this guys truck is 30 years old

Nice freezing ac now in Dallas with just a single can of freon.

I will be getting reimbursed from jb hunt.

Best part of all I did not have to take it into the shop, I hate that place.

with all do respect snowy. I replaced my whole system last summer. I vaccumed it, then added exactly 3 pounds like what my peterbilt calls for on the sticker on firewall. With that chart that was posted, i verified ambient temps and gauge readings and the chart was dead on.
I think maybe you are getting just a tad bit toooooo technical for whatever reason. But + or minus a few pounds of pressure on the readings isnt excatly a nuclear emergency to be that concerned about. But i understand some people just cant accept simple remediations and want to be full bore to the T. Not necessary. I think i posted before on this thread how i replenished an old r12 system with r134 and ran that way for years and never had an issue till i offloaded the vehicle

Great call. I won't even open the system to replace anything without the drier and orifice tube if equipped being replaced. It's factored in with the estimate.

With all due respect. I have yet to see any vehicle in 30 years come up to that chart.
In fact. The only time I've seen anything above 40 on the low side. There's a problem in the system. Or even close to the high side. The compressor starts cycling.

My w900 got a expansion valve last year. It don't match the chart.
