Going through, Pittsburgh isn't that bad, because you would be on the turnpike. The 90/94 from just before the 55 interchange, until the 90/94 split is the worst in the country! It is why I slept in my truck instead of going home.
But to even suggest there is a worse city in which to drive than NYC is a stretch! New York is more than times larger than most other large cities besides LA, Chicago, Houston and few other. The signs are mismarked, there are one ways, and the addresses do not correspond with the block. There are plenty of low bridges, and trains on top of the roads. Double parking? That has been promoted to art there! I spent over six years driving for 2 carriers who delivered into the 5 boros. The place is a nightmare that I would only wish on my greatest enemies.Florida Playboy Thanks this. -
I am right there with you. Place was not built for big rigs. It's bad enough driving through DC/Baltimore but delivering to DC is the worst. I hit a light pole 1/2 block from my delivery. Guys at construction site where I was delivering helped me out. I will never take a big rig there again.

What I like about Chicago is that it ends quickly. Like take L.A for instance. I've been in heavy traffic all the from Banning before, coming and going. All the way through the Grapevine and going South, forget about it. Traffic all the way to the border.
Chicago ends once you leave the city. A few miles south of 80 on 55 or 57, light traffic. The same all the other directions except maybe east and even that ends fairly quickly. That's my beef with L.A, it just never ends! -
Truth, there is a reason why so many carriers use "No NYC" as a selling point to recruit new drivers.

How could I forget Denver! I absolutely despise that city.

All those bridges, tunnels, and interchanges you have to get over for after you just got over to the other side of the highway for the last interchange. Thank God for GPS. Couldn't wait to get out of that place.Bob Dobalina Thanks this.
