It's been a year since I last used a 10 speed so I'm worried that I might forgot how to use it if get put into one. Currently using a automatic Freightliner which I do enjoy.
Can you forget how to drive a 10 speed?

Don't sweat it, it'll come back to you. The first little while will be a little rough but you'll fall back in the groove soon enough.
-
The gears don’t change position. Once you drive one, it’s the same thing no matter what
stwik Thanks this. -
If you knew it intimately, you'll never forget. Same thing goes for any transmission.
-
Give it two weeks and it will be like you never stopped using one. First couple days will be rough.
-
Hell no.
I loathe the #### things. I think it's been oh 1992 or so since I touched the last one. But no I never forget.
It's like a cat. You can trap it once. But if it ever trips that trap without being all the way in, it burns a avoidance of all cages into it's memory forever and ever in stone. -
I hadn't driven one in a year. If they had given me a check ride it would have sounded like the time Kramer drove one on Seinfeld. After 3 days everything was good. Relax.

It depends.
I passed my CDL on a manual then drove automatics for 2 years. I tried getting on with a local company and mostly shifted okay, but a bit rough and I did stall once. They still flunked me on the road test.
I'm just passing this along as there are goofy companies with no patience. Also, I was road tested by guys that float gears which is something I never learned. I had the impression they though double-clutching was a weird thing to still be doing.
I did a fast refresh at my current company out on the road with a trainer in a 10 speed for only one week. Of course after that, I was put into an Automatic Freightliner and later after that I switch to Yard Spotting. -
Well, I started driving in 1992, no autos back then, In 2000 got pulled back into the military (not driving trucks) retired from the military in 2013, got back in the truck two months later, 10 speed, first day or so I'm sure there was a pound of gear teeth in the bottom of the trans and some really stressed out U-joints but it all came back in a few days after 13 years. Two weeks later they swapped out my 2015 T680 for a 2019 T680 with an auto, I can now feel my right sholder and my left knee! Now I'm down to only 1600mg of motrin a day!
homeskillet Thanks this. -
Knock off that moltrin.
You risk ucleration in your stomach and failure of other organs if you keep taking this all the time.
It wont kill you to wit Lethal Dose - 50 vs 5 pound cat... But it will take quite a few pills to reach the 640 mg/kilo needed to kill a human.
Ibuprofen is an NSAID. The amount it would take to kill you would probably take up most of the trunk of your car. The only reason it would cause the effects you're describing is if you already had inflammed bowels or kidney problems, in which case you should have seen a doctor beforehand. The LD-50 for ibuprofen is 636 mg/kilo. Assuming OP weighs more than 5 pounds, chances are he/she will be fine.
If you throw up what appears to be clotted blood, black coffee material or poop it badly the other way you go to ER immediately. There is damage present that will need fixing already to save your life.
If you have to take that much sitting still in a pretty cloud equipped airride everything in trucking riding plush luxury better than most caddys, there are other problems present.
I took huge amounts of Moltrin, Aleve etc for most of my trucking. Unfortunately at one point after I stopped I was still taking it until they literally quit working.
Doctor told me to wait two weeks then come back and see him if anything hurts still. That was the beginning of my pain management in damage and trauma to the body that will be there until I die. Regular OTC drugs don't work well anymore. And some narcotics are lethal to me, such as Fentenayl.
I currently run about 30 Mg MME (Morphine Milligram Equivilant daily) which allows me to be independant. I don't know the equivielant for moltrin and how many you have to take to reach that MME but it would be more than what the body will tolerate.
The DEA and State allows the doctor to prescribe up to 90 MME daily without additional paperwork and medical evidence to challenge overprescribing.
It;s a small step from Moltrin to Pain Killers. But what a step.
So if you take it everyday in a wonderful truck, stop it. You are not stressing your body anymore like a Soldier, Sailor, Marine etc.
My post turned into a little bit length I apologize up front. But 1600 daily constant is just too much.
