If you developed muscle memory (i.e. drove it more than a day or two), it'll come back. Just like riding a bike.

I can't imagine how hard it would be to go to manual after only driving autos since school. You don't drive enough miles in school to be good at shifting.

I only drove 10 speeds in the trucks at the school. Since that time I have been driving 18 speeds.

One day the boss threw me into a truck with a 10 speed, because mine was down, and it took me all day to get my gear selection straightened out. Then I was back in an 18 speed.

I've never driven an automatic. Most of the old timers I've hung around with talk like they're some kind of curse. The only time I'd like to have auto is in rush hour traffic. The clutch leg fatigue gets to be a pain in the butt.

NO! You can't forget what you never learned. Driving a truck is like riding a bicycle. It is Motor Learning, this is not the same as general learning . I drove 10 speeds for years. Then drove auto's for almost 2 years. The last truck I was in was a 10 speed. By the time I got to the red light I was already comfortable with it.

Switching from a 9 to a 10 is a challenge, we have a couple dozer trucks with 10’s and it screws with me.

Fair enough. But someone at my level won't get there if I don't get seat time with a manual.

I don't think I did horrible either; I double clutched my way through small towns on hills. I fumbled and did one stall when slowing down to wait for traffic and make a left turn.

Oh well that is just one anecdote sharing for the OP. If they're better than me and can float gears they'll have an easier time. I was just sharing that a few companies can be very nitpicky.
