Floating gears is like being a Conductor running a 500 person orchestra. As the conductor if you need the strings but ask for the horns your music is not going to be good. The same can be said for this. Forget road speed, forget engine RPMs. Just remember your tranny has 2 shafts. One is connected to the engine and the other to the driveshaft. Once you learn how to listen to the engine and the wind slip stream you can change gears and never even look at your instruments. I used to fly airplanes. I think I mentioned in a post a while back that this was like learning how to land. You have to keep the correct approach speed. Pilots learn to listen to the sound of the slip stream. All of this sounds hard. trust me it is not. One of the things that really pisses me off is losing my CDL to my disease. I want so badly to help teach new drivers how to operate manuals.
Can you forget how to drive a 10 speed?

Auto's suck big-time, in the city for sure the worst. They start off so slow you are scared you will need the 4-ways on, all I have drove are such horrible dogs and limp that I'm embarrassed to be in one.And merge on to the Interstate will 73000 gallons of diesel behind you, whew!
