you want good pay and you got no experience...
sorry dude, put in your time, as you are NOT entitled to good pay right now, as you ain't worth much with no experience.
go IN person to all the companies and offer to work the docks, move trailers in the yard, and let them see how you hustle. in time, if you PROVE yourself, you might get put into a class B truck for a few deliveries and pickups, and mind you, they WILL BE monitoring you and your time.
the no car right now, can be an issue, so hopefully you get find something that is on a bus line, or you'll have to Uber or Lyft it...Tx Countryboy, Texas_hwy_287, snowwy and 1 other person Thank this. -
There is no secret.
What newbies fresh from trucking school are never told is that the first year is the most dangerous and that its really hard to get a job you want unless you can demonstrate staying at one with trucking a year. The entire industry knows that newbies are disposable within the first year so if you survive it without being fired etc and hang in there for maybe two or more years, you will learn that you can hold a wonka style golden ticket to anywhere just about.
After I graduated school I went down to Hahn in New Market late one morning and within the hour I had completed a successful road trip, had everything else I needed to get started with trainer at 3 am next day. Just needed to be there by 2 am.
Easiest Job I ever hired on to. Easiest job I lost as well. How? Plant suit came out and demanded me to move. I was not only catty cornered but also trapped by another company truck and tanker unloading. SO it would be another hour before I moved. But the Suit screeched now.
Well that now cost my company around 10,000 in damage to the other tractor and the suit never got his cement until 3 hours later as two more tankers pulled in to silo. It was a very bad day at Rockville Fuel and Feed. If I knew that truck aint going anywhere for 3 hours I would have gone into the cab and took a nice after noon nap. And serves the stupid suit right.buddyd157 Thanks this. -

If they like "the cut of your jib" they can hire you if they want to. The places that can't figure it out, you don't want to work for anyway.
It helps alot to show up in person and ask for an application.Texas_hwy_287 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Go in person is one way to maybe succeed.
Can't you get a car where you pay by the week or something. Payments are made to the used car lot, not a lending institution.
Can you buy a used Moped?
There's a local, home daily job in Plymouth, but you don't have transportation to get there. It pays $1200 weekly.
You can't run regional or OTR?FlaSwampRat Thanks this.
