It seems like Swift has terminals everywhere. I was talking to one of their drivers in Chicagoland and I asked her where their terminal was and she said they had two in the area.

Gary Indiana and Menasha Wisconsin would be my guess.
There is one right in Chicago that is not talked about much and is a real nightmare.
I was based in Menasha for several years before I retired. Nice people there.

And it seems the driver you spoke with never told you which terminal she was from.

You don't have to limit yourself to Colorado based companies. All you gotta look for are companies that have a presence there, as in whether they have running lanes through there, or any of the other places you mentioned. Most, if not all companies have presence in all 3 spots in your post.

Before you start school, start talking to these companies, secure some sort of commitment from them.

right now we have too many drivers, and hope is it will be reduced by third quarter.

Yeah, I'm aware this is just about the WORST time to enter the industry like...ever. But a $5k grant that won't tie me to a specific carrier right from the get-go isn't something to turn my nose up at. That was my main reason I didn't enter this industry in 2008 or something--the idea of being tied to an abusive carrier or be on the hook for thousands of dollars is awful.

Luckily, not having a lot of worldly ties so I can afford to just basically live in my truck for a year or two seems a point in my favor. Or so I hope. And the good thing about being in my 40s is that I have a bit more of a backbone than I did in my 20s. Both in persistence in finding something for me, and in not being pushed around as much.

Many drivers live in the truck. Not uncommon at all. Bank lots of money by living in the truck. Still need an address for your cdl though. Make sure the address is in the hiring area of the company you want to work for. Mail forwarding is good also; can hold your mail, then forward it wherever you want.

Find the employer you will work for before you go to CDL school. Just getting the CDL and hoping for the best is EXACTLY how you wind up paying for a refresher course when you don't get hired anywhere for 6-9 months.

Chick-fil-A headquarters and the owner are moving to Nashville from California.

Californians and full-time protestors are electing Nashville city govt. Hopefully, the Nashville Mayor will be arrested by ICE soon.
