Your first year will be set by your base state, then they will adjust it each year after. Your cost for the base plate doesn't really change only how your base state distributes it.
Can you get mc number / dot # without insurance? Also IRP question

Don't forget Oregon, if they will run there. $2,000 bond for $100 dollars a year, that's what I paid. I believe they will allow you in there up to 3 times before requiring you to sign up to their system. File every month for the first year then quarterly. I filed quarterly from the get go never had a problem.brian991219 Thanks this.

How do I know the states that irp doesn't cover and I need special permits for? Such as KY and such? Also If I have to go through KY where do I get the permit and is it quick? -
Kentucky motor carrier portal search Kentucky weight and distance tax

Maybe someone has a source for all States info . Gonna have to do some homework

The states that I know that have their own form of mileage tax or weight tax are, New Mexico, Oregon, NY, KY if you are over, I think 59K. All other use IFTA. Hope this helps.
By the way if you are getting your own authority, congratulations. Please remember that is the first step, you need to be compliant with most of FMCSA that apply to carriers. Including but not limited to, Drug policy, paperwork, log verification, files on drivers, staying current on all laws, licenses, taxes, IFTA, IRP and too many to mention. You might look up OOIDA, or NASTC.RubyEagle Thanks this. -
Ky does participate in IFTA but also has KYU permit distance tax to be filed quarterly

You can get it but it won’t be active until you have the minimum insurance required by the fmcsa. If you get it and let your insurance expire. You will get a nice letter from the fmcsa saying your mc number will be suspended on the date your insurance cancels. The ins company are required to send your policy to the fmcsa. If they suspend it the first scale you come to that has a camera reader on the ramp will shut you down until you get insurance

Ucr is a per truck fee paid every year. I think it’s $75 for one truck. I know from experience Oklahoma is a 200 ticket for not paying it. Com check t check paid at the scale before they let u go. No cash. Lol
