You might want to look at MAP 21 a bit closer.

Ferro plans to implement the EOBR in September and phase in 2 years no matter what.

I am not calling for them, but I am not sticking my head in the sand either.

The plan for this started in 2005.

I use Eclipse. I print and sign the previous day's log at the start of my day, and keep 7 days of printed logs on hand for review. Never an issue.

Talk to a sign shop and have them make you a "Qualcomm Electronic Log Equipped" decal...

Then what happens when they pull you in because you are the one they want to see if you have all of the ducks in the row on use and support paper?

You just made my point, it's been years in the making and hasn't happened yet......Ferro just like all of her forecomers is just one person, yes she may wield a bit more influence than most but she cannot make this happen just because she says so.......this will all be tied up in court for years.

Note, MAP21 is part of the highway bill of which as I stated had been moved down from the #2 spot in the administration's agenda to now #5 or #6 meaning there will be nothing new coming except more continuing resolutions to keep funding current for projects and regs already in place or approved and scheduled.

I am all for punishing companies who abuse their drivers and force them to violate HOS rules to keep running and would be for mandatory fines and EOBR implementation for those who are habitual violators but one size does not fit all nor does making one or two small mistakes deserve to be hammered on like someone who caused a fatal accident. Plus they still fail to address the #1 issue leading to serious HOS violations that is being held at the docks all day then being forced to run tired to make next mornings appointment. They mention nothing more about detention than having another study.....HO FRIKIN' HUM!! BFD, more of the same!!!!!

Just so you know. I am not for EOBR's. I hope they fall off the scope entirely. I am in agreement with you on this. But, looking at it from another point of view other than what I hope is what I presented.

In addition to all of this, facts which I am not current with, just how many "big companies" are not eobr?

With the majority of the drivers already on it, just how many remain?

October of this year will be the most interesting. I am surprised at the lack of objection through court on the new hos and eobr issues to the independent.

As far as the "planned" study on detention, just how in the blazes do they think they will accomplish this?

I for one am not stuck as a truck driver.

I just renewed my paramedic license for another 4 years.

Maybe with all of the hiring and tax issues coming, I should look into the IRS, but I have a liking to the sunshine in my world.

LOL, OK roadmedic.....look........only 15% or so of the OTR trucks are operated by what you recognixe as one of the big boys....call'em the "cheap and heavies", "usual suspaects" "mega carriers" or whatever. The rest of the freight moving around the country is done by either independant O/Ops, Lease Ops, medium to small companies or "private fleets". The fact is the vast majority of drivers are not using EOBR and of those that do with very few exceptions are doing so voluntarily either by the company or by the "trucker"......as my buddy Dave says...."EOBR'S ARE A MANAGEMENT TOOL" !!! AND MY BUSINESS HAS ENOUGH MANAGEMENT ALREADY........the last thing they are about is safety and driver comfort. The only reason the govt gets involved is because someone will be getting quid pro quos from equipment manufacturers and other outside intrests and as usual big brother is always looking for excuses to invade our privacies even further......can you say QualComm and Google!!!!
