If trucks can pull the grapevine LOADED @ 70-80....im going to go out on a limb and say with the right power/trans/final drive that 100 DOWNHILL isnt going to be a problem.
(wow i cant believe sometimes how DUMB some can be when their young- the guy couldnt have been more than his early 20's)
can you go 100mph down a hill??

...if it were only on the road

I've topped out every vehicle I've ever had. My 94 ZX-9 was supposed to do 156. At almost 170 indicated, I figure I got pretty close!

If the question is "could he" run 100 mph down the hill the answer is absolutely. Drop of any 6% grade loaded and just don't hit the brakes, you will be running 100 in no time. If the question is "did he" run 100 mph down hill the answer is probably not, especially is he was bragging about it. The key to the tall tale is the ISX v/s Detroit argument, its almost asrridiculous as saying it can only be done in a pete and not a freightliner. And besides, 100 mph is not hard to reach in any truck these days, just remove the governor setting in the ecm and there you go. Bottom line is 100 mph in a truck on public highways is just stupid! Been there done that in an 85 KW cabover running a 425 b model cat with 13 overdrive a long time ago when I was a little younger and a lot dumber.

It doesn't matter what engine. That was his way to get out of show himself lieing. There are a few trucks that have triple digit speedos. There are a few trucks that need them. Fewer drivers that have seen telephone poles looking like pickets in a fence. I have never seen a truck of any make or model that can go up the grapevine at 70-80 miles an hour loaded. I had many trucks that could do it ....... Bobtail.
