I have used a GPS once, and I will never use one again as long as I can help it.

I always keep my trusty atlas by my side, even though I don't really need it anymore at the moment, but I will trust a map before I trust where the GPS is telling me to go, any day.

If I need to find out how to get to a shipper/receiver, well I get on Google Maps and I look at where the place is at, and then I look for the most practical route that does not take me through downtown or residential areas. You can even put it on "satellite" view to see the landscape and buildings in the area, you can find out of the place has a bigger dock area, or if there is a gate (to see if you'd be able to get in there at night to unload early am) and to just see in general.

Technology has helped make things better and easier, but you still have to not be an idiot for it to work for you.

I don't remember any speed rating on our old 10.00X22 nylon, or polyester cord, tube type tires. Guess they were unlimited! :iroc:
It was fun, but, I'm glad those days are over.

Actually you can go faster than 100 mph; it's called Georgia Overdrive; slip it into neutral and hang on.

Uh Oh, just reading back and see someone already mentioned that!!!

Snowblind your age is showing LOL, I used to stroll across I-10 at night at a very high rate of fuel consumption. The only way to go across W. Texas, NM, Az. 359 Pete 6x4 3408 kitty putting out 550 HP. Both sticks against the dash. If you were doing less than 80 you would get run over. Shoot I remember one night I was strolling along and heard a Guy & Lady giving some one called Jr. A hard time on the radio that he was holding them up. A little while later a Black W-900 catches me an goes on by with its twin right behind it, now keep in mind I'm doing about 85, and they are still raging on Jr. That his new truck won't run. Few mins. Later I see some lights coming up, seems Jr. Had to stop to cool off a tire, and they had been waiting for him to catch back up. Any way Jr. Blows by at way over 3 digits brand new bright Red W-900 turned out Mom & Dad were in the first two and I guess you have figured out who Jr. Was. Frozen yard birds out an Garbage back used to make a turn out there every week. Always had a pocket full of money an trucking was fun.. Cluck Cluck I miss my old Chicken Truck.

Back in the day, Little Johnny's mom is watching her soaps when Johnny tears into the room, throws some M&M's in his mouth, bites the cat, grabs his butt with both hands and tears back out. A repeat happens in about 5 minutes. On the third round, Mom puts up the stop sign.

"Young man, WHAT are you doing?!?"

"Just playing like I'm Daddy, Momma!"

    "WHAT??" she asks, somewhat perplexed.

"Well I heard Daddy tell Uncle Bobby that when he goes trucking, it's all about 'Poppin pills, eatin p####, and hauling ###!'":biggrin_2559:
