    You insinuated it

I called the dealer and asked what the process is to sell a truck to them. They told me that was part of the process.

Yes because they want to make sure it’s something they can resell with minimal financial input. They won’t just cut a check for a truck without an inspection the way most drivers do. If you just need to dump it and be out of it start dropping the price until someone bites on it.

I know why. I’m just saying other people who did it told me they didn’t need to go thru that. That’s all.

I think that was the dealer's way of saying they aren't really interested in buying a used truck to try and sell. Not a lot of profit in buying a used truck, especially if they have to potentially sink a few thousand into it in order to put it on their lot. It's not like the potential loss is offset by the sale and service of a new truck.

If you were trading it in on a brand new one I doubt they'd charge 2 hours to inspect it. Sales would probably eat the inspection cost just to help get the sale on the new truck. If they can't at least break even on the old truck they'll sometimes just flat out refuse the trade in.

Well, no failed regens yet. And its been about six months since that did happen, with the light coming on. But if or when something does happen I will take it to the dealer since its under warranty. The truck is anyway, not sure how long the warranty is on the DEF system but I wouldn't think that warranty would be out already with 110,000 miles, I could be wrong, though.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.

My extended warranty on my def doesn’t expire until 600k so you should be fine

If you are desperate to sell something, you are negotiating from a position of weakness.

You need to sell it: nobody needs to buy it.

“just needs” and theres an undiagnosed list of things/
Put it up for sale and see what you get for offers. If you have to sell it in a month, you’re prolly looking at under $20k
Check auction results for what something similar has sold for in the last 30 days.

biggest waste of money in my experience. I paid 900$ and the only calls I got were from other places that wanted to sell it or ebay auctions that have a buyer lined up and ready to buy my truck...
Facebook marketplace and other social media work great. Sold my truck via Tiktok
