It's been years since I last operated a CMV. In fact, it's been so long that I feel out of everything. I want to ensure that good information is being put out there. Those of you that are saying go on ahead and run a fridge while the vehicle is parked need to also provide more information. A perfectly working electrical system should be able to handle a small load for a VERY few days, but what if the system is starting to go bad? I have seen with my own eyes what looked like a great battery go bad almost overnight. A bad battery left running a fridge overnight can strand you. Because you can never tell when that battery is about to start going bad I challenge you to be careful on this topic to make sure you tell people this works with a 100% good reliable charging system. Just based on my experiences this might only apply to 90% of CMVs RIGHT NOW! Now, let's also add some CMVs have a battery protection circuit that WILL SHUT DOWN ALL internal electrical draws INCLUDING that fridge. Leaving you with a "hot" box when you get back in the truck.

Again, I am not trying to start any trouble. I want people to understand you do this with a perfectly working charging system. The more this DOES NOT describe your truck the closer you are to a possible service call. This is a real danger AT ALL TIMES.

I would not leave one unattended for very long unless I was sure I could get a jump when i got back. I watch every electron and with old fashioned lead acid batteries, I never let the voltage drop below 12.3
Many inverters will shut down before they get to a range that will damage the batteries and on some this is an adjustable value.

I am guessing that when chimbotano left his truck for five days with all that stuff running , he knew he was pushing his luck.

Still though, OP should find a company that offers trucks with APUs , Its one of the very few perks of driving for a mega in my humble opinion

This is the thing. I'm not trying to start a problem. I am not a large fan of leaving things like a fridge in a CMV for much longer than maybe 12 hours. Yes, if there is an APU and you know your charging system is 100% that is much different. In an earlier post, I mentioned either idling or running an APU that there is not a better 3rd option. If I were able to drive again and was handed a set of keys and I discovered NO APU and inverter in the truck I would toss those keys back with a comment to the effect I am NOT your #####! Give me a truck with some basic things like an APU keep it running and I will do my best to make you and I both some money. Treat me like a ##### and you will still have that rig but I won't be around!

You are absolutely correct. I should give more info. Look , I drive a 2015 cascadia. my batteries are about 1 year old. the inverter is POWER DRIVE brand. I did shut off my truck and I left the inverter on and the fridge and my head set connected to it, by accident. I did not mean to do that. And I would not do that again for this long period of time, however when I drive (haven't driven for over 4 months) I shut the engine off and I leave my fridge on overnight and sometimes I boil eggs or make cafe with my fridge on and my engine off. the next day my truck starts without issues.
Im not encouraging drivers to do that. This is my own truck and I connected the inverter myself.
