I started CRE today and everything my recruiter told me is completely different i have a family and we were supposed to be moving after the training that was told to me to be only 3 weeks. I get here and they tell me i will c home maybe once to change my CDL in the 6 months if my trainer is not a prick. Can i leave this school for another school if i havent started anything but DOT physical?

in that case, i can see them holding you financially responsible for the physical, room/board, and the transportation. cant see any way they can hold you to anything else. its kinda your word against theirs in regards to what you were told versus what they are telling you now. but ask to speak with someone BEFORE you sign anything. you sign a contract and you may be stuck for the entire bill for school.

This might piss a few people off...and I under stand that you might get stuck with these expenses , or sign a contract , or etc, but your a grown man , if you feel that you were lied to , things are gonna go south and wanna get out while your ahead , do it.

i know of two specifically decent deals for cdl school. millis has you contract with them for one year (i was told by another driver) and charges $25 per week out of your pay during that time, then you owe nothing. also, private school called c1 in indianapolis is where i went. at the time the tuition was $4k, all of which they would finance, plus if you were short on funds for food and such (2 meals provided, dinner on your dime) theyd finance some extra for that. not sure what the interest was, because they offered an option of paying up front and then reduced tuition to $2k. the numbers have probably changed since then, but id imagine the deal is somewhat the same. they guaranteed a job with your choice of 3 companies upon completion of course (pam, usa truck, roehl) and all 3 of those paid tuition reimbursement of $100 per month.
the way i ran the numbers, it seems on the surface that these 2 options are about the same as far as what the school ends up costing you if you pay c1 up front (25 per week x 52 weeks = 1300 for millis school. 2000- 1200=800 is c1 cost minus reimbursement from company. 4500 - 1200 = 3300 is c1 financed plus interest (?) minus reimbursement from company). swift school is terrible deal. driver reports charge of 3900 taken out of your pay over 13 months, or 300 per month. second year they start paying you back so that in 2 years school was "free". and everything ive read about england says not to consider them no matter what they tell you. -

Where do you and your family plan to move to? Some on this forum can give you good advice if they know at least the city & state you plan to relocate to. This concerns hiring locations, terminal locations, CDL issues, etc.
