Yes... I did....
If I remember right. They also wanted evidence of the Grant for CDL school.
They won't pay for just going to 'school'.Deere hunter and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
If you are able and availible to work? No.
If you are in training or school No.
However these are not ordinary times. ANY thing is possible.tommymonza Thanks this. -
Legally, no

Isn’t the paid grant training part of the unemployment commissions attempt to re train displaced workers? You’re not earning any money, No one filing a w2 or 1099 on you. No reason you can’t still collect unemployment.

I'm not 100% sure you can legally do it. In almost every state I have heard of, part of getting this money you have to show you have been actively applying for work, and have these forms signed and returned to the state. I'm not sure how you can be going to school full time and be applying for work (with immediate availability) at the same time. I would make dang sure you can do this before I took a dime.

A lot of us are seeing our miles cut drastically and sitting a day, or a day and a half in between loads due to the current environment. What we need to discuss here is how we can supplement the difference in our loss of income with unemployment. I was pretty much averaging net about 1350 a week. I’m down to about 850 a week now. And it will probably drop further. In fact the company I work for told us to expect less loads and more sitting time for the next 2 to 3 months. At least they’re not laying us off. But does it impact the company if you file for unemployment?

Yes... you can file for unemployment based on underemployment. Have to deduct what you make from your unemployment.
I'm guessing the extra Trump provided won't be calculated into it all. So might not be bad?Deere hunter and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
Many states would say you are unemployed and can collect if you don't make a certain amount. But that $850 a week is going to be too much. Might be fairer to the drivers to lay some of them off.

Depends on the state would be my guess.
But in MI (not right now, because of COVID-19), you must actively be looking for work to qualify. If you are in school full time, you are not looking in most cases. Now if you are in school, and looking for a part time job you could until you find a job. Of course if you are truly looking you will have a job before you can file, so there is that.
Right now, everyone is getting the (at least) $600 a week that wants it, don't really have to do anything other than say you are not working because of COVID-19Rideandrepair Thanks this.
