Just curious cuz I've never seen it done...assuming you have your doubles/triples endorsement and your first trailer is a typical 28' pup dry box trailer, is there anything preventing the second trailer from being something like a car trailer or utility trailer that a 4 wheeler would tow? Now I know there are trailer braking requirements depending on trailer weight per state, but that aside, any reason it couldn't be done?
Can you pull any trailer as your doubles?

I dont think it would be a very safe combination!

Certain states have restrictions on the doubles requirements, in MO for example a pickup can pull a motorhome (5th wheel style) and then have a pintle hook set up w/a trailer (car/horse/etc...) , I would just check with local state DOT for specific legalities.

Talking class A truck. Specifically asking as I have a tractor and at times need to just pull a 28' trailer for my load. We also sometimes have to bring along a towable single axle generator with a pintle hitch that weigh around 1000lbs...any reason legally...or safely...I couldn't tow it behind the pup trailer?...and talking regional, wouldn't go OTR with it.

i've seen lots of differant Double Combo's, as long as you meet the break requirments and i'd say your good to go. But i'd call your local scale house and see what they say.

In addition, why would you want to pull something like this for nothing? -
i would be currious about this as well as it would be convenent as all heak to be able to tow a car behind my tanker trailer when taking the truck for services and to get work done somtimes up to 100 miles from home if i could just hitch a car dolly or small trailer behind the tanker and put a small car on it then i wouldent have to make 200 phone calls to find someone to come pick me up

Companies like Quality Driveaway have guys that drive new trucks and tow their vehicles behind them for the return trip. You could call them and ask where they might send their drivers to to get the setup. -
that would be great for bobtail but not for if the truck and trailer both need to go in. some trucks already have a ball hitch on the back you could hook a dolly to

Might be some restrictions as to the total length.
