Can you put SAE 5W40 to steering reservoir

    let them try that on me, i prolly have more factory training then most i just cant stand doin it anymore and there aint much in my area for it right now

    One large company based in Phoenix with red trucks does run oil in the power steering, or at least used to.

    If you are a company driver, call the shop or boss and ask them.

    I just bought a new steering gear box and asked for recommendations regarding fluid. They recommended 15w40 motor oil in case the pump seal ever developed a leak, it wouldn't dump ATF (the original fluid) into the engine. Made sense to me.

    As long as you don't mix engine oil and ATF in the power steering system you're more than likely ok.

    Agree with you but the guy should never use motor oil in a hydraulic system unless it is an emergency.
