14 volts plus 14 volts equal 14 volts not 28

Not exactly. But I know what you're getting at. In a properly wired system this is true and this is how a truck with an APU should be set up.
In basic electricity, two DC systems in parallel will have the same voltage, but can operate more stuff (higher current handling capacity).
Two DC systems in series will add together and make twice the voltage.mtoo Thanks this. -
I knew someone would pickup on the series/parallel aspect

Just trying not to get people confused. Especially since electricity is very confusing for most people. But they should rest assured that a properly wired system will not double the voltage.

I know this is of no help,.. as I have pretty much Nill experience with APU's. My carrier has 2 Coronado gliders with the 12.7 and APU's in them. No idea what APU it was.
I was asked to go rescue one and when I got it,.. both AC systems (The truck and the APU) were not enough by them selves to cool the sleeper down during the heat of the day. But there was a button in the sleeper where you could set the APU to auto or start/on/off and run them both at the same time. Both AC systems together would cool the sleeper enough for me to sleep. So depending on the set up,.. it is possible.

Update :My friend decided to just suck it up and drive at night and try not to ruin the wires or apu he should be back in California tomorrow morning thank you for your suggestions.

I never implied that the voltage was doubled.

I did not mean to imply that you were implying that 14 plus 14 equals 28. What I was trying to imply was that I was agreeing with your post. It was meant it as a thumbs up, not as a thumbs down.
About that 1amp fuse you refer to, what I did with my TK was put a toggle switch in that wire. That way, at the flip of the toggle the APU would not know that the ignition switch has been turned on.lilillill Thanks this. -
I kind of thought maybe that was the case. You had me confused there for a moment. I even went back to reread my post to see if I wrote it in a confusing manner.
I've also thought of putting a toggle switch in that circuit. I just never seem to think of it though unless it's like 120 degrees outside.
