Ok, I have to ask if this is normal. Not the dollar a week for EZ-Pass but the deposits for stuff you need and the out of pocket for things not covered by fuel cards or EZ-Pass. I didn't pay a deposit for anything like fuel cards etc. But more importantly I was given a float to cover the tolls that EZ-Pass doesn't cover, faxes etc. I keep the receipts and cash them in as soon as I get to a terminal, I don't have to wait for them on the pay check, so in theory I should never have to foot the bill for anything.

    Holy Macaroni!

Guess I never realized just how spoiled I am!

    My company-

Pays for PrePass, EZPass, PikePass, Ohio Toll card, used to pay Indiana toll card but Indiana has gone to EZPass now. All at NO cost to the driver.
All other tolls are fully reimbursed. Scan your toll receipt with your bills.

Drivers are required to have a kingpin and padlock set. You can buy through the company or an outside source. These belong to you and are yours to keep.

Load locks provided by the company. Should you need to buy some on the road, the company reimburses the cost 100%.

Truck deposit is refunded 100% after you have been with the company 1 year.

Reimburses all scale fees for weighing out loads.

Charges NO deposit for fuel cards or any other equipment or passes- just the truck deposit.

Pays (through an onsite account) or reimburses (either by instant loading on ComData or reimbursement on next paycheck) all lumper fees.

(Appreciating her company more and more....)

Prepass is kind of a scam anyway. "We care about safety, but if you pay us we won't hassle you?"

It's really hard to believe the states aren't simply grabbing for your wallet with stuff like this.

Thats a new one on me paying for PrePass as a company driver. I wouldn't do it. I never needed a king pin lock-but I carried one. I worked for a mega carrier that would bill you for lost locks at $60. When I quit them I turned in 11 locks- I was only issued one (managed to get a master key and lock). I told them they owed me money. :biggrin_2559:

If you already own a lock or kingpin lock-would they allow you to do that instead of using their gear? I would ask safety.

I doubt they'd let you carry your own. You may be asked to leave it on another trailer and grab another one when you get to a terminal. As for the Prepass fee, I'll gladly pay $1/week to not have to stop every 10 minutes while taking the Chicago bypass. I hardly considered it a scam. The main thing the scales do is weigh, and pull a few select trucks out back for inspections. Most Prepass sites weigh you going down the road, and the worse your company's safety rating is, the more likely you are to get pulled in for an inspection.
