can you test outside temperature sensors

    Have a KW with sensor in mirror that doesnt work.Is there way to check wire or the sensor itself.Do they have small voltage going thru them or how do they work? :biggrin_25520:

    Define doesn't work. If no display check for supply voltage, if display is on it's either the display or the sensor.

    When it does show something its around 180 or hotter but most of time it just shows dashes where temp should be.No i havent talked to a dealer,usually try things myself first.

    Just realized I wasn't very clear--- if the display is on and displaying non digits, it's the display. What you have sounds like just a sensor, although it could be wiring. The dashes normally mean out of range, so the display is getting faulty info from the sensor. I'm not familiar with those units; are they one piece in the mirror, or are the sensor/display two separate pieces? If 2 pieces, check the connections between them.

    sensor is in bottom of mirror and display is in dash.Suppose i better figure out how dash comes apart to get to wiring.

    I'd look at the mirror end first, out in the elements, etc, etc
