I forgot the price, but they had a special on it on TV. 5-10 seconds standing next to you about 2-3 feet away they were able to scan several cc's from people.

The RFID chips are not always chips in the traditional sense of the word. It does not have to look like an integrated circuit anymore. RFID can be as thin as paper, as flexible as paper and even look like paper now. Nearly all rewards cards have RFID built in. The larger money companies such as Kroger uses them to track customer movement in the store. As tin foil hat as it sounds it is true. Kroger can pull up your member number and know if you get your pork before or after you get the milk. They track how long you stand and contemplate which salsa brand you want to buy.

The hideous ways it could be used are countless, but in the above example Kroger simply is seeking to improve the customer experience, or trying to learn more about how their customers shop and their habits. What business wouldn't?

But yes, in short nearly all reward/member cards have RFID. If the company can afford to utilize it is a whole different issue. The cards are as cheap as the cards without the RFID, it's the sensors in the store and the software that is expensive, not the cards they give away.

I just hate it when they send a text message to my phone when I'm in the produce section and they tell me the Jergens Baby Lotion is in aisle 4 and the Kleenex is in aisle 3 after I linger in the magazine section perusing the latest Maxim.
