No, you can have a rider...Are you an experienced driver??
You're misunderstanding the family plan: It's two drivers=1 experienced driver & 1 student driver....

So if I were wanting to be a solo driver and just have my wife ride along it would not be an option from what I am understanding unless she went through the school too?
CAN YOUR SPOUSE RIDE WITH at Covenant?

She will not be able to assist you any way, unless she has her CDL class A. We are mainly a team company, we do not have many solo positions available.

ok right now I am a student with International Trucking school. I was looking at after my phase 1 and phase 2 training on wanting to go solo but wanted my wife whom is a NON-CDL drive to be with so I would not have to be concerned with home time. also I would show her the Helper/ Backing duties to assist me on the road.
Thanks Nick Robinson

Yes, I thought he wanted to take the whole family along for the ride, and knew that wasnt happening. I hope they continue that policy over at USX, like I stated, the company I started with did allow children of a certain age during the summer months and then quit doing it.......then quit allowing spouse too. I think its good for your spouse to spend sometime with you, so they know what your up against out there on the road.
I think it would serv companies well, to allow a non spouse rider too, so many poeple would like to check out this industry and there is no better way then a ride along. Might be a good recruting tool within certain limitations.Last edited: Jan 29, 2011

I don't know a thing about Covenant - but where Hubby and I are going - if I wasn't going on as driver, I could as passenger after he completed his training... just a small $ to cover additional insurance. Hubby's cousin is doing that with his wife. She doesn't want to drive.

Lady K Thanks this.

COn-Way Truckload also allows riders. I have been on the truck for over 2 years and we have never had to pay a penny for me to be.

If you are going with covenant, they stated they are mainly running teams now. If you plan on running solo you should look at another company.
