The only reason people get up-in-arms and/or make false statements is because they do not educate themselves. Canadian healthcare is among the best in the world. Period.
As far as it's peer group, it is better in some areas; not so good in others. It can stand some improvement.
Healthcare in Canada is not free, but it is reasonably efficient... even moreso given some of the unique complexities and costs associated with delivering healthcare across this entire country. It is universal in the sense of it being a single-payer system with certain services being mandated by the federal government in order for the provinces to receive funding. After that it is up to the provinces to determine what else they cover. The same as if you're dealing with different healthcare insurers (which you are).
If you're an interprovincial driver you should get supplemental coverage just the same as you should if you're an international driver.
Canada , if civil war breaks out down here...
