It will all be fine, or it won't, although the prognosis at this point is good (she was discharged the same day, which was the preferred option). As I mentioned, she's 85 and has had a good run so far. I'm pretty pragmatic about these things (as is my mother) and we all go at some point. I will surely grieve when the time comes, but there is no point in fretting about things which are out of my hands.

More to the point of my post (which was not looking for sympathy, but I do appreciate the kind thoughts), our healthcare system is not perfect, nor is it a disaster. As has been stated all along, relative to our peers, some things are better, some things are worse. Any one person's experience may be better or worse than the norm, but whining about it on the Internet doesn't do anything useful... and I generally find to be suspect.
