after an unofficial meeting with some other happy drivers in the Gerdau Ameristeel parking lot in Sayreville, NJ, the consensus is that those of us who run into Canada are regularly getting screwed out of miles. something isn't converting kilometers into miles in the computer correctly,

not sure who to raise this question issue to, because the driver is always wrong and we should just "pick a better route" but I have been in Canada for the past month, and my OOR is 12.5% ...it's usually less than 8% ...sometimese close to 10% if I run NY and New England a lot, but I got a phone call from my FM about it, I said the variable here is Canada, they need to figure OOR with a 10% curve to begin with because loads into, and out of Canada are always off by 10% to begin with.

I feel bad for the rookies who have never been up there, I at least know the roads and how to get around, and still can't haul into or out of there with less than 20% OOR. let's run 460 miles, get paid for 376, and then get punished for it. WTF?

3 trips to Canada, lose money & miles everytime...Will not go back...

To the Rookies DO NOT! DO NOT use your cell phone in Canada unless you have a global plan, nationwide plan doesn't cut it (Verizon anyway). Made 4 phone calls and a few text's and was charged over $300 from Verizon. 2 of the calls were to my FM and TMC will not cover those calls. I had no signal on Qualcomm where I delivered so that was my problem, they said find a pay phone and use the 800 # to call your FM..

Well since thats the case I told them I'm leaving my passport home for now on and don't ask me to go to Canada again, the deal with my family about me going over the road was that they could always contact me whenever they wanted so Canada is out. I will take it to the border and swap out but no crossing unless the pay was extremly worth my while and we all know they do not pay any extra to cross. Although 2 out of the 3 times I had no problem crossing but all it took was once they did not give me the correct steel permits and they held me at the border for 11 hours with no compensation...

That one time was also to deep into Quebec...I do not speak french and all the signs and road info is in French, was very difficult for me anyway and did not feel comfortable driving there. Ontario at least had split signs with English and French but not Quebec...All French...You guys can have Canada...No intrest for me whatsoever.

been there before, haha. I've been to Montreal on vacation once so I knew what I was getting into, only had to drive across that province once on a run to ME out of Indalex in Mississaugo, ON. I stopped at a Tim Hortons and tried to order a croissant for breakfast in english, good times.

been into Canada for TMC dozens of times, only got two good runs out of there, one to TN and one to NE. run to ME paid well but it was a lot of back roads once I got into the US. navigating around Montreal can be a nightmare. they act like I'm doing them a huge favor by going in, "thanks for running Canada for us" doesn't pay my bills. used to be profitable to go to John Deere in Welland, now they stopped production and we hauled the whole plant to Mexico for them, I don't see any reason to go back. used to love Laredo runs but I can't count on getting them anymore.

LMAO:biggrin_2559: I tried to go in and get something to eat, they just looked at me with utter disgust that I didn't speak French...walked out and got back into the truck and headed south...load or no load I was coming back to the US...
