We are considering putting Canada on the map, but are uncertain as to required documents. We will be doing legal loads only so we will not need info on that point. But any help on getting the docs in order & other steps we should take would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

To Whom That It May Be Concerned,
I used to truck with my brother & remember talking about Canada.

    Your gonna need:
    1. CDL/Driving record/Insurance/Medical Papers. & DOT Inspections or other Maintenance & other Spenetures for the Truck. <------Don't Know if Canada is a different policy being different country. (Look into that maybe:
    2. All Your Papers. Whole 9 Yards. Need your DOT, CDL, Insurance, Medical as well as Brokers.
    3. A Passport, for leaving, then entering back into the Country/Customs.
    4. Make sure you are paid up on IPASS.***Key*** So you lose no moneys on Tolls.
I'd also make sure you got plenty of Chains, Tarps, Boards & Bungees as well as Tools & First Aid. Fire Extinguishers/Water Fuses & Flares Etc. And maybe a box of 194 bulbs. LOL!
Oh Yeah! At least a couple of Debit Cards & Your Gas Cards.
    Hope this helps.
    Drew

A FAST card is the preferred option. If you get one of those you rarely get stopped by customs.

As for the rest: Horse Hockey! Well really it depends where you are going. Anywhere in between Quebec City and Windsor is like travelling on a US Interstate. If you are going further into the boonies, prepare accordingly. (Then again, I had most of that stuff crammed into my truck....)

The one thing that I'd definitely get is a winter survival kit (i.e. put together some blankets, hats, and really warm clothes in case you have to spend the night in a ditch.) I also carried water for a week (5 Gal canteen).

P.S. You also need to realize that Quebec is mainly French, and so are all the signs.

P.P.S. Apologies if this is basic info, but I've run into soooo many U.S. Tourists who arrive on a sweltering summer day with their skis.

    CanadianVaquero and 77fib77 Thank this.
