I am getting ready to start my CDL school and I need some info. I was convicted of a felony 16 years ago for breaking and entering, and I was woundering if or what I need to do to enter Canada, or will this stop me at all. I looked at the other posts on this but am not real sure so I want to find out all I can before I send $200.00 to Canada for the paper work.

The last word I have had, irragardless of how long ago the felony conviction had been, a convicted felon cannot enter Canada.

Found the following on this webpage...

    http://www.awsda.org/html/visiting_canada.html

    And

After doing some digging I found this...

    http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/inadmissibility.html

I am not going to tell you what not to do but it looks like you will need to jump through a lot of hoops in order to enter Canada. A bit of advice, wait off on spending the money for the papperwork on this end untill you know you can enter Canada legaly.

What do you make of this?

    Deemed Rehabilitation

You may be deemed rehabilitated if at least 10 years have passed since you completed the sentence imposed for your crime. Some requirements for deemed rehabilitation include:

You have only been convicted of one offence; and
The offence would be punishable in Canada by a maximum term of imprisonment of less than 10 years.
You are not required to submit an application to be deemed rehabilitated.
