    Hello all;

    I have been driving straight truck with my class 3 for the past 4 years- and just got my class 1. I went to a driving school, did a 20 course, passed my test on the first shot... and can't find a job anywhere! I have been looking over a month- i really need help here. Everyone i talk to says they need 1 year experience- but how can i get experience if no one will hire me???

    (I am in Calgary Alberta- would LOVE to long haul back and forth to Ontario)

    Go work for Canada Cartage driving one of their box trucks and once you have your foot in the door keep reminding them that you have your class 1. They're always short of drivers so eventually they'll be desperate to move some freight and use you

    Build up some experience doing local and Alberta work and then you'll be ready to apply for OTR jobs

    Don't hear about a lot work to Ontario, my guess is that there's more freight moving east-west so there's lots of empty trailers looking for loads to go home with, but could be wrong

    The oilfield recruiters often don't require experience if you aren't too firmly set against making a decent wage. ;)
