I keep reading that a backup paper log is required in the event of an elog system failure. I'm not having much luck with finding any regulations stating that they are required or not here in Canada. My supervisor doesn't seem to think we need to keep a paper log in the truck but he won't be the one getting the ticket.

Keep a logbook on the truck. Simple as that. You may never use it. But, if your elog fails. How are you going to log your hours if you don’t have one?
You could use a notebook. But why? Truthfully it only cost a couple of dollars. And it’s only a one time expense hopefully. So why not?AModelCat Thanks this. -
Totally noob question but where would a guy buy a logbook?

AModelCat Thanks this.

Probably be easier for me to just go and buy one. Is it actually a requirement in Canada to have a paper logbook when running elogs?

Think about it. If we did not require a logbook as backup then we'd all be running a broken ELOG
