I take it you're on the Island ? There's always Armour, Midland, and Day And Ross. With Armour there's a good chance you'll be regional. With Midland and Day/Ross there's the chance ( a good one ) you'll be hauling fries to New England. There's always Bulk Carriers in Clyde River and Brennan Farms in Borden .... Morley Annear .... etc Any reason why you're asking about those two in particular ?

Just curious as to what they haul and to where and if they are decent companies to work for.. I see ads by them all the time. Plus Armour has an ad looking for 10 drivers now as well.

Muscles, spuds, then anything else ..... and hauled to whereever .... usually New England ...... unless it's cans going to Halifax. All the large fleets in Atl Can pay about the same .... you're usually hired thru a manpower agency. Armour ( uses at least 3 agencies ) generally circulates their adds around the Maritimes all year long. They're always looking for 10 to 100 drivers ..... regional ... long haul ..... day .... night ..... shunt .... pin to pin ...... etc etc ....

    Hope that helps ....

If you're new to this then sign on with a big outfit that'll take you. Do your time .... then write your own ticket where you want (West, North, Broker, or stay at home where you be )

I seen they are looking, called em and talked for a bit about a few things. What did or didnt they do right? They way he talked theres money to be made there and he will help an owner operator rig up to pull decks which not many places are willing to do. Looking for more info on them.

Sunbury, RST, and Midland are Irving owned companies. They 'help' new brokers by 'helping' finance their first trucks. They are usually used company trucks. They always used to be F'Liners because the Irving's also own USL (Universal Sales) which is the Freightliner dealer in NB. I left Sunbury years ago, so I don't know how it works now.

I followed behind SGT one time. He was pulling a deck with all sorts of totes on it. Well his load securement sucked. A length of pipe came off and bounced end over end coming to rest in the passenger windshield of my truck. I called him on the cb to no avail. But having no cell I could not call the company. Probably no dispatcher at two in the morning either. Stupid %$#%%%$$ didn't even do his job right. I always thought it reflects badly on any company. When that happens the first thing a person looks at is the name on the door.

every north american born driver will say safety 1st and foremost~ the fact the driver did not know any better is a reflection of the due diligence practiced by said company; they just took advantage of some guy who wanted to do more and perhaps earn a little more and threw him into the seat with nary a thought to their responsibility to ensure he understands proper load securement. the fact the incident did not kill anyone who might have been in the passenger seat is an example of their willingness to play the odds with the public for fun and profit. those of us who know better should hold only scorn for those types of companies, no driver wants blood on their hands, but their employers use statistical analysis to play the odds comparing training costs to profit against insurance premium. they KNOW accidents will happen, and they are just gambling when it will and how bad. and they don t care to who or how many, getting that new merc is more important than you.

Very bad company to work for:

Some trailer axles not properly aligned to leaf springs. Improper wiring being done to switches for warning beacons.
Was told it was okay to be running a truck that had blown a seal on the axle leaving puddles all over the ground.
Boss has majore melt downs. Have seen his cell phone thrown across the room.
Some drivers just straight up do not care about the equipment there.
Have seen many occasions where someone has hit a vehicle but was never reported in an incident report.
If fired there you will be fired in the drivers room with him cursing and swearing at you in front of other drivers.
Has un realistic can counts for drivers. Wanted me pulling 160 to 180 cans a hour which equals out to be about 3 cans a minute. Beware honestly.

A.H.R.D Ltd. based North of Lloydminster in Sputinow, AB, they haul oilfield fluids, stayyyyyyyyyyyyyy awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
The owner Herb Lehr is a crook by profession, I pulled his trailer for a month and it was already badly maintained, I brought it to his shop with a list of things needing fixing and he told me I had damaged his trailer and wanted me to pay for all the repairs, he took a chunk off my cheque. I was told after the fact that he has done the same thing to multiple others, and charged people 10s of thousands of dollars like that. I wonder how he can sleep at night!
