Maybe they paid cash for the truck? Doesn't cost anything to let a truck sit if it's paid for...
Not everyone starts out having to borrow money.Rideandrepair, Mattflat362, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this. -
I agree some people it won’t work for but that’s what I did. I wasn’t a trucker before hand. Was a heavy equipment operator who was a truck enthusiast. It planned out though becuase I’m a single person with no expenses and good with my money. Paid cash for truck, paid up front for insurance and all other fees. Paid for fixing old truck up and did hours upon hours of work to the truck myself. When I get home at the end of the night, I look for and repair and replace anything that looks old or worn.
It’s a major commitment. If you can’t do any of this, you are setting yourself up for failure. Also saved up enough padding and have plenty of credit if something major were to fail. Is it all worth it? I highly doubt it for most people. But for me, I love my truck and love driving it. I also really enjoy working on it. You could say it’s a hobby. I’m a local hauler, can’t see how an otr guy could have the time for all this but somehow some manage. I give them a whole lot of creditOxbow, Rideandrepair, OldeSkool and 10 others Thank this. -
I should add that it wasn't here...it was on a facebook page.

Yea and I tend to forget that I see and meet a lot of people with WAY more money than my poor ###!!!
For some it is nothing to unnecessarily lose 10k while getting set up to run.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Although, I’ve seen the lease guys head straight home after getting the new truck. And taking a week off. Not a good idea IMO unless they actually have the money.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Mine has been sitting for 4 months. I am paying the non trucking insurance on it because it was so hard to get and want it convenient if I have to move it
But I bought it cash so it isn’t costing me anything. I was going to get my year in and lease onto the other side of our company to learn the ropes
Kinda on the fence in the last week about Bailing out on the whole trucking scene.Mattflat362, Rideandrepair, cjb logistics and 1 other person Thank this. -
