Can't Really Shift Trans ( CRST ) as bad as it get for companies

I drove for Can't Really Shift Trans (CRST) for a year. I made my mistake by not doing research before going to the training program in Cedar Rapids, IA. I will tell you exactly what type of company they are based off of my perception of experience along with other experiences that I knew of.

CRST; everything you read about them is true to an extent, now don't get me wrong you do have some guys who make post and they are complelty in the wrong and or they did something preventable which caused the company to react even if its and aggressive reaction.

One of the problems I had with crst was there lack of respect, loyalty, and commitment in certain aspects. Now for me a problem around me doesn't have to affect me to bother me or be a said problem for me especially when it comes to work, it's the principle in things that matter to me. The whole process is about 31 to 32 days. I didn't like the fact that they where kicking guys out of school who had been there for 3 weeks after the physical and drug test which takes place day one,nut these guys was kicked out for things they proved they stated before coming to crst and at least 2 other times while filling out paper work, things such as misdemeanors and tickets. Now ( professional drivers cool your jets) yes, I'm aware that those where things they did in the past to get into trouble but CRST did and could have found that out before students attended driving school, because I certainly remember my recruiter checking my stuff out and telling me I was fine. So why didn't their recruiter do the same ? I believe they already knew due to the fact that when you arrive Sunday night for orientation they will have you a nice ol fried chicken dinner ( eat up because that'll be your best meal the entire time) but you will also sign a few forms ( at 3 different times you will sign forms and at least 1-2 of those forms are just pre- obligations to signing future forms) but the fact of the matter is it all comes down to the government and end of the year taxes for CRST,( the same reason they don't tell you you have an option of getting per diem pay but they say they just do it to quote on quote help out the drivers ) they Reciever 1000 to 1200 just off of the first signature before you even take the drug test for every head that comes through the door. So if you fail that drug test they already made a grand off of your head, if you passed the drug test but they send you home for a ticket that you say you told them about they don't care your gone and they just got a grand from uncle Sam to help them with a student they won't be giving services to.

You see the problem is is that there aren't enough laws and I mean detailed laws for these trucking companies, now most trucking companies have morals, principals , and a little decintcy to not try and capitalize on all the minor loop holes the trucking industry has. For me I luckily had a good driver manager that I got along with really well ( not that I'm hard to get along with) , but he did his job to a T the time that I was there never had problems getting my refunds for tolls, scales, or anything else. Even when we had a dedicated route from Pa to Oregon and we where supposed to take 80 all the way back but needed to get home so we took 70 the turnpike which is crazy in tolls, but he didn't care as long as we delivered on time which we did all the time granted 2 times for breakdowns.

A friend of mines there had to take his driving test 2 days before I did he passed and unlike everyone else me and him was not hyper over passing the test because they rush you inside to sign the contract right after which is a contract that takes about 30 minutes to read so they try Nd catch you when your all excited. But at that point in time it doesn't matter if you sign or not because one of those prior 6-8 forms you signed before completing trucking school you sign a form that stats you will sign with crst after passing test. I have a business lawyer ( i own a small landscaping business back at home thats murged with my dads home improvment company) anything I sign I need a copy of, Anything! I asked for 1.5 weeks leading up to the test and contract for a copy to send to my lawyer they said you'll get one from trucking school . Why do they say " they will give you one" and I'm at theyre " crst " trucking school ? Because crst named it NADTA it's technically not apart of CRST ( which is ########) they own it just more tax reason ########, but once I got to trucking school they told me they couldn't give me one until I paid for trucking school which is 3500 or unless I finished contract lol why would I need the contract after I finished the contract? well luckily my friend didn't sign and gave me his copy that he took from the school this guy simply did not give a #### but I don't blame him look out for your interest before a multimillion dollar company that's consistentantly in the black and has a turn over ratio of 132:1 how the #### they stay a float idk, or maybe Ive already posted how.

Look I could right a book on these guys the fact of the matter is if you are part of the acctua
CRST family great for you keep ####ing people lol but if your on the outside then the best of luck to you.

PLEASE PLEASE IF YOU PLAN ON GOING TO THERE SCHOOL BRING MONEY $40 a week after the first week ain't #### ( I had money it was just sad to see so many people starve so I literally gave mines away every week) . The reason they only give you $40 is so that incase they kick yo ### out of there, you won't be making it home off of the money they gave you for failed training unless you save all your money while in school and manage to get sent home you better bring your own money , 1-2% of the students there are actually from Iowa or the surrounding area of cedar rapids, that says a lot!

ONE MORE THING THAT FACILITY IS A SES ####ING POOL I AM NOT OVER REACTING WHEN I SAY THIS HOMELESS PEOPLE COME THERE , PEOPLE WITH BAD HYGIENE AND SO ON TONS OF SMOKERS ( not that I have a problem with smoking as I smoke myself ( tobacco )) BUT MORE THEN 30-40 people there had bronchitis which leads to walking pneumonia, bed bugs all over, someone even had blood on there quote on quote washed covers.

 

Hahaha it's funny you say it was long I was thinking the same thing lol I've been reading these forums for going on 2 years now and just now decided to make a profile, but I soon caught myself getting wrapped up into new points and examples. Thanks Bud

 

I definitely agree with you there , the whole point to the story about the buddy of mines who didn't sign with them was he had a misdemeanor from when he was 15 years old which they knew about because I recall the day in the first week he had to re explain it to them. But they let it go until he decided not to sign he left NADTA ( trucking school ) and I lie to you not before he crossed that 2 or 4 lane road way the office called him to tell him he had to go home because of it, but just 10 minutes prior was willing to let him sign the contract and join the team.
