Capacity crunch incoming

the US DoT can't withhold funds unless Congress puts it into the funding bill. This has been discussed with Congress and they won't.

That's what we heard too, this will be only going forward, not address the present CDL holders, which is BS.

This used to be called a provisional CDL, and last I heard it still is in some districts of the state.

I do, and I have people applying with no means of legal residence proof. I think this is where, if you are not a green card holder, you can't work in trucking - period.


EDIT - I do believe with 200k gone, this will not fix the over-capacity problem we have. We need 200k stay gone, which won't happen.

 

Not going to affect Mexican and Canadian drivers who are domiciled in their respective countries.

Figured by now many of them would have self deported by now like they did around 2009 during the recession/real estate crash.

For me it’s too little too late, I’m exiting the industry in a few weeks.

 

We’re going to have another manipulated truck driver shortage soon which will make trucking even worse in the long run. Or most of this nonsense will be swept under a rug…

 

No one is spending money right now, and by the time all this gets tightened up it will be past peak season, I’m still going with 2026 being the year things start to pop back up, send the ####ing Canadians back where they belong too

 

Or just hold shippers accountable when cabotage rules are violated.

 

I would guess that the shipper and the brokers need to be held accountable on this issue.

 

Somewhat, only it goes off the driver and not where the company is based.

 

It won't take long to shut down the CDL Schools in Ca. I think they are all owned by the same man. They all have Singh somewhere in the school's name...

 

1,500 hb2 visas for truck drivers were already issued this year as of August..last year 1,400.
