You signaled the driver you was turning. Who knows how that would of turned out in a court of law if a collision occurred. More than likely the cdl driver would get most the blame.

you did a good job of not hitting them good quick reaction you were paying more attention than the car driver for sure. i could hear your turn signal as you were approaching the car. presumably you were intending to signal that you were moving over into the right lane that was opening up. however the driver of the car probably saw your turn signal and absent mindlessly thought you were turning into where they were pulling out and thought that you would be slowing down so they thought they would pull out and get out of your way. the better thing to do would be to continue in the left lane past the car and then turn on your turn signal and move over into the right lane. a generally avoid making lane changes when approaching a occupied intersection for this reason.
many times i run the left lane threw towns anyway as it allows traffic to enter and exit the road without conflicting with me, and if i have a right turn coming up then i will go ahead and move over into the right lane sometime within the last mile before my turn.Shotgun94, Cattleman84, laaylor and 3 others Thank this.
