I am looking at either a 8 car high mount or a 10 car stinger setup.

What are the pros and cons of each?

Generally how many pounds are the trailer's axles rated for?

Generally what are the axle weights for these two trailers?

    thanks,
    Andy

On a 8 car high mount it is very easy to be over on the tractor rears,...And it take way to much time to set up for the extra car,....If you want a high mount I would suggest a 7 car. I like the Miller 7 car,..But the Cottrel, Sun Valley and Wally Mo,..Are nice as well,...

The obvious advantage to a 10 car stinger mount is more car equals more money,...However they are just as easy to load overweight on the axles,..And in all reality it is not very often that you will load 10 cars unless you get a load of small stuff,..8 or 9 is more common,....I think you can load/unload 9 cars off of a 10 car hauler faster than a 8 cars on a 8 car high mount,...

I am partial to the Boydstun low rail stinger set up,...I think they are one of the fastest and easiest 10 car set ups to run,...

And I have a Boydstun 10 car set up for sale,....

However Cottrel has a 9 car quick load low rail stinger set up that is nice,.But hasn't been on the market long so there isn't many used set up's of that model,...The only one I ever saw operate is the same one I saw listed for sale last week,...

It all depends on how far your going to run,...If it is shorter runs a seven car quick load ios the way to go,.....If longer runs a 10 car stinger is the answer,...In my oppion,..Others may very,

Now that I have said all that I will add that I think car hauling is a bad area in the transportation industry to try to get into given the current state of the countrys economy,....

With the low rail it is much easier to get into and out of cars on the trailer,...Take a good look at both styles loaded and try to imagine which one is easier to use,......

Ask some questions at the auctions if your already hauling cars,.......Take the time to watch others load different setups,....

Something will catch your eye sooner or latter and push you one way or the other,....

I want to be able to haul 3/4 ton, 1 Ton trucks and suvs.

Which type is better suited for that?

Are axles rated at 20K lb normal for a 7 car low rail stinger trailer?

    Mine were 34000 34000 12000,.....Just don't go over,....And if I said I never did I would be lying,....lol....

As long as it's a 102 inch wide trailer you can put stuff anywhere,...Except for dullies,... They need to ride on top,...Usually at the back of the trailer because the rear fenders are wide,..

I wasn't sure if a highrail had more of a advantage if you want to carry trucks or suvs or not but from the sounds if it not really.

is that 34K lb per axle or total for the trailer axles?

    Total for the trailer,....

The best thing you can do is spend some time watching guys load/unload different types of trailers,..

Go to your nearest auto auction on a sale day and hang out at the loading pad,...Most loading pads are not fenced in,...watch and pay attention you might see something you like better than what I like,...

    Every body's opinions are different,..

I found a boydstun low rail trailer and truck that I am very interested in but don't know what the axles are rated for or how much they weigh empty.

When empty do you know what your trailer axles weigh?
