I was talking with my instructor the other day and he told me that a car hauling recruiter had visited our school either earlier this year or last year. I was a bit surprised because I had given up on the idea of going into the car hauling right out of CDL school. So I thought I might ask here.

Are there any car hauling companies near the NYC area that would hire and train a newbie?

    Thanks.

I have never heard of any car hauling companies that hire without at least one year of road experience. As a rule car hauling pays pretty well and especially the union jobs ($90,000.) or so. You may check, BMT, I think they are called. They haul new BMW's and are non union but I hear their drivers make over $70,000. but they do run them pretty hard. Worst case... get a year under your belt and then go for it!

    Thanks!

That actually gave me a few more places to look. I figure I might just call ever local company and see if anyone will give me a shot. But were you actually talking about PMTG or BMT?

PMTG is the parent of BMT and TriStar Transport. You need at least 2 years OTR to be considered and we make usually more than union car haul anymore. Many of the union companies such as Allied has had to take a 17% paycut to keep their jobs since the company is bankrupt.
