Just another example of how these people can lie and deceive without any repercussions. I remember this press release in about 2004 saying we would be able to retrofit for about $1,500 so the state legislature ( who was going to nullify CARBS demands ) decided that those costs would be easily absorbed even in this current economic climate.

So CARB testified before the state legislature that their research showed a likelihood that the current (2004) cost of $5,500 dollars... Yeah right, even then it was $15,000 to have it done, that cost would drop significantly to $1,500 by 2007 and likely be less than $1,000 by 2015.... LIARS! They got their legislation passed by lying, so now do we call them on it?

I hear you, my tractor has a 2006 engine and I am from California. When I talked to CARB at that trucking show at Fairplex in Pomona CA they acted like it was so simple to get the DPF retrofit.

Yeah, in about '04 I talked to my congressman (in Arizona) and he acted like it was just part of doing business to spend $1,500 to retrofit my trucks. I would love to hear his retort now when I tell him it will cost about 6 months profit to retrofit now. He had no interest in any federal injunction to stop California from doing this because it was such a small amount of money that they said it would cost. When I told him that it would likely be $10,000 (in reality its more like 15) he laughed it off like I was making a big deal out of nothing because (I paraphrase) "what does CARB have to gain by underestimating the costs"? How about the fact that this would have never made it to a vote if they had not LIED to congress.

Oh, I almost forgot. Read the part where they estimate the annual cost to maintain a DPF system to be $80 (yes EIGHTY) PER YEAR!

Then why is California going to spend 57 million to retrofit 400 vehicles?
