Thanks, something that we haven't tried. We've made videos of the "soot" so those would be areas we could place the meter. Will check it out and let you know.

Sorry but 9 to 12 ppm is hardly anything to worry about.
Go pick up o decent, regular home CO detector and install it at the height of your head while sleeping.
If that goes off then you do have a serious problem. -
Soot won't be on there unless there is a leak there. The soot sprays out the leak so that is where you would start fixing

This is an information video I found a few weeks back.
The detector we purchased can be found on Amazon Being that the cab is small enough and drivers spend over 14 hours a day confined in that small space, yes, those levels can become hazardous to one's health. Long term exposure will create health issues.

CO is a rich air to fuel ratio. My bet is happening during a Regen. Check piping from turbo to a DOC inlet. I am guessing leaking bellows/flex pipe. DOC will convert CO to CO2.
truckthatpassesyouby, pushbroom and damomma5 Thank this. -
That's the only explanation in my mind. I had that happen once, that was a $2200 dollar repair.damomma5 Thanks this.

2015 kw t680 which is a sister version to the Pete you have pulls it’s inside air from the cowl area Obote the exhaust so any leak from dpf will poison him ... I went through 12 months of bs from paccar claiming there were no leaks despite constant carbon monoxide readings.. His description of white smoke from under the hood is exactly what mine was doing during a dpf burn.. After sending a Email to the dealership and head office they replaced the dpf on warranty and it’s been good since... I will NEVER drive a truck without a carbon monoxide detector again.. PS company kept sending me for random drug tests due to my eyes always being red

Had a truck i drove that did this. Had to tell my company i wasnt going to drive it because i kept getting headaches. I woke up with headaches if i left the truck on for A/C. My stomach ached as well, like if i were hungry, but it was the fumes. I tried taping the A/C intake under the hood - didnt work.
The only thing that worked was not idling the truck.
Took it to the shop couple times. Told them the fumes were coming in the cab. They said they tightened up stuff around the motor area. Somewhere on the right side of the detroit engine. After taking it to the shop twice for the same deal, it sort of reduced the fumes.
Fyi, this happens on day cabs as well. Ive talked to guys who say they get the same issues.
Long story short, i switched trucks - it helped - and its definitely something to do with the exhaust or regen stuff because when you regen and your inside the cab... you might as well be sniffin glue. Thats why i only regen when im not in the truck or not regen at all- if i can help it.Last edited: May 2, 2018
