    CrewNeck....

    Schneider veteran here....

I would largely echo the info given in post #5 above -- the CDL job market (especially for new/inexperienced drivers) is REAL-LY BAD right now.

Normally -- you could be choosey, for your first gig.

Now, however...you may simply have to take whatever you can get, in order to start that first CDL job....& accumulate some experience.

    On the plus side:
    • Texas is probably one of the better (best?) places to look for a CDL job
    • Texas offers an incredible variety of freight types
    On the minus side:
    • The mostly-unchecked influx of illegal immigrants at the once-upon-a-time so-called "border"....will eventually threaten your pay &/or job security -- unless you choose freight types wisely.
    • Trucking involves A LOT OF HOURS. Shifts are routinely 12 - 14 hours long....day after day after day after day.....You may eventually make good money. But you will indeed earn every penny of it. o_O
Old Dominion is a great employment suggestion.

But whether or not they are hiring -- & whether or not they will hire YOU (vs all your competition) -- is yet a whole other conversation.
