There's a way to make over $100K after you have 12 months experience. That's running teams with R&L Carriers. Each driver makes $2000.00 per week and has 2 days at home weekly. Some teams make much more. You'll need all the endorsements also.
Old Dominion Freight Line is big in Virginia; you can start there. They hire from specific cdl schools, so do some research and find out which school they hire from in your area. You can run teams there and make $125K for each driver once you get a good run, maybe a west coast turn each week.

Those line haul jobs are gravy. Ask which schools they hire from in your area.

They are considered a good company with great pay. My buddy went to them and goes home nearly every night.

So I get what you want to do op, but here is the thing, unlike your present job, this one is not always what it seems to be. First you have to learn how to drive a truck safely, and for some reason that's not always as easy as it seems. As easy as the cdl road test is, there are people who can't pass it, and some of these people are no dummies in their other fields of endeavor.

Then there is the money part, your making good coin right now, but are you banking any of it?

If so great but you are not, stick with what you have.

    x1Heavy and Thickeyd Thank this.

I do have a small amount of experience driving farm use rigs but never very far obviously. I am decent at saving money but I'm much better at paying bills versus stacking cash, have a minor addiction to heavy equipment....

    You still can.

Maximum age for first enlistment is now 35.

    Check the Navy website.
