That's what I thought! I've never been in a truck b4 and they are going to trust me with a 80,000lb truck?!? But then i thought I'll have 4 weeks of schooling and 8 weeks with a trainer and on top of that 6 months OTR experience by myself. Still I think they're nuts trusting drivers with 6 months to do the training. But hey if I can pass the trainer test and feel like I can teach a student better than I was taught then I'll do it. Plus better pay..
-
pays not gonna be better.give me a few minutes and i'll type it up just the way it is in the handbook..ok heres how it is stated in the werner/drivers mgmt handbook on page 2.7...
dry van trainer pay scale
0 mths exp .24
3 mths .245
6 mths .25
9 mths .26
1 yr .27
2 yrs .28
3 yrs .29
4 yrs .30
5 yrs .31
7 yrs .32
10 yrs .33
15 yrs and up .34 as you can see the yrs skipped and not much change in income per mile.this is seriously a joke someone with 20 yrs exp working for these clowns would only get .34 c a mile. -
you know i am ussaully one to well only be sarcastic in most of my responses and i am all about improper punctaution, but man training after 6 months exp that should send a red flag to even someone who does not even have a cdl also a company like werner swift and the vast other huge outfits only care about filling those trucks that they have ever so peacefully sitting at thier terminals the reality is that with most starter companied they are gonna stick it to you but i have heard some bad ones about werner, one guy told me they charged him more for his tuition than he made so he literally worked a week and made nothing and they claimed he owed them. i have only been driving a little over 2 years but there is one thing i did learn very rapidly believe nothing a recriuter tells you and assume the worst pessimistic view i know but if things are better than the worst they could be then you have a reason to be happy but i highly doubt you will find this with werner my advice bite the bullet do 6 months with them and quit, even i could name countless companies that are halfway decent that will hire with 6 months exp.....and do not plan on making much during those 6 months either
-
Yeah crete told me that after I have my cdl, I can quit werner whenever I want and they will hire me right away. They also added that they do not have bonus'. That most bonus' that companies offer are very hard to achieve.
They just pay good per mile and leave it at that. -
never and i mean never count on a bonus because thats exactly what it is a bonus and think about it like this did werner get that big by paying everyone fairly i doubt it if you plan on going to werner just for the cdl and then to crete i would say more power to ya not heard that much bad about crete most i hear thier drivers are happy
-
Good Good. That's what I wanted to hear. I've also heard that, " Maybe you'll like Werner and end up being a lifer".
-
maybe you will win the mega millions to ....unlikely but it does happen
-
Guys that believe what the recruiter says and not what guys that have been there and left because they got screwed is what is keeping these loser companies afloat.
Come back in 6 months and let us know how bad you got it without vaseline. -
does werner issue vaseline now?
