So I'm trying to plan out my career change from electrician to truck driver. I'm not real interested in OTR trucking long term. Love my wife and would like to see her more than twice a month. The only huge obstacle I'm trying to hurdle right now is my DUIs I have. The thing is, I went to the DMV and got my MVR and neither of them are on my record. So would I even have to state that I have 2 DUIs?

Were they far enough in the past that they fell off your record? If so then I'd say no. Things like that have a statue of limitations and from all the applications I've seen they're only looking back 3-5 years with the exception of a few felonious matters which haunt you forever.
-
Where do you live? How long ago were the DUI's? Not good to hide stuff in this industry, plenty of drivers will vouch for that.
Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
I live in louisiana, one is 4 years old and the other is 6 months old but I got an article 894. Don't want to hide it but just didn't know how I should approach this.

I had some stuff that didn't show up on my MVR, but through other searches it turned up. Best bet would be to start calling companies.

Well I'm currently trying figure out how I can even get my cdl, the truck driving school here is 20weeks long for $10,000. I work full time and can't quit just to go get my cdl. Do companies hire people and train them OJT? Thanks for all the replies.

I am fairly new here also and I have never seen any school that long or that expensive. Try the " search " and also in the Forums for the best CDL schools that will suit your needs.
-
Also, anyone know of any companies that train guys to get their CDL in NW Louisiana?

You will have a VERY hard time finding a job in the industry with your DUI's. Stay the course with your electrician gig. You will make a lot more money at it than trucking especially the first year or two where you will make peanuts if you're fortunate to find someone who will hire you. You asked so here it is.......If you do this you will be making a very big mistake for so many reasons. I don't recommend this at all..............And yes, companies will find out about your DUI's, don't worry, that information is out there.
xlsdraw, Jimmeyjack, Tonythetruckerdude and 5 others Thank this. -
