That's good to know. I at least got a few months of researching companies and what kind of trucking I think I would be most interested in getting into. Even when I get 4-5 hours of sleep (which is mainly what I get) and can manage to not even get cranky lol. I just drove last Saturday for the first time at night and I loved it so much. No one is on the road and was peaceful. Definitely saw more 18 wheelers than I expected
Career choice, get my CDL at 20?

Those are dictated by your assigned loads from dispatch....and the corresponding delivery/pick-up times.
THOSE SAID TIMES WILL BE ALL OVER THE CLOCK -- BOTH DAY, AND NIGHT.
Thus -- you can say "good-bye"......to a regular sleep time period/schedule.
In most cases -- in these circumstances -- you are expected to perform (for the most part) like a machine.
Congratulations! You have thus achieved true "meat in the seat" driver status.

If....after all the above you still think you might be interested in a CDL class "A" career......to ensure that you are the closest thing to a "first pick" candidate for "starter" carriers that will be hiring when you get your CDL-A license:
- STAY SINGLE -- AND CHILDLESS (mentioned earlier)
- Avoid any/all traffic citations; DON'T DRIVE OVER POSTED SPEED LIMITS
- Avoid criminal activity/charges; avoid assault charges (no bar fights)
- Keep your credit scores as high as possible
- Avoid any/all traffic accidents as much as possible
- When you get your CDL -- go ahead, and get the relevant CDL endorsements: tanker, hazmat...& doubles/triples. Those endorsements are door-openers, and money-makers!!!

If you've smoked any weed, etc. get a super short haircut right now, so it will grow back by the time you get a DOT physical for school which may include a drug test. If you show up with a skinhead, the testers will take hair from anywhere else on your body.

How much over the speed limit were you?
When did you get the speeding ticket; date? -

You wouldn't start driving if you didn't know where you want to go. Don't start school until you know where you want to work.
