I think I am still amazed at the beginning mileage rate of .38 a mile. I am not sure I have found another company that has come within .05 of that mark. I was leaning toward Abilene but you may have swayed me Kickstand. Its nice that the terminal is closer to my house. I live in Tryon.

Melton Truck Lines starts at $.37cpm if you want to haul flatbed.
Anyways, I'm also going to orientation on Monday at Cargo Transporters :-D

Oh, and Prime starts out at $.42cpm if you drive the lightweight truck, but I think they want you to stay out for 3+ weeks. CT says they get you home every 5-7 days once you're solo. KLLM has regional in NC, $.35cpm OTR is $.32cpm, I wouldn't take their lease purchase though. Fact is, a lot of companies are raising their pay... Roehl has flatbed starting at $.37cpm, I think EPES pays decent, they are based out of Greensboro. You might be in the Maverick hiring area also, might want to check them out.

Devildog, did you just get out of the military? U.S. Xpress has the operation jumpstart where they start you out at 2 years experience pay, which is $.38cpm I think they told me. If you stay out 30 days they'll pay you $.03cpm bonus. You do have to team for 2 months right after training though.

No buddy i have been out 32 yrs....i wish it was recent. I am coming back to work after 10 yrs on disability retirement. I would like to drive flatbed but I have lost too much of my core strength to do that. while I am fortunate being married to a woman that is a physicians assistant and provides primary care to two clinics not to mention my retirement is healthy, I amm coming back to wirk for ME..tired of sitting on my ### waiting to die

Good luck driver. If you dont mind do us a favor and keep us posted on the miles you are getting after say 5-6 months. Also note the length of hauls etc.

Epes pays .25 for 6 weeks on the trainers truck. Start solo at .30 with a penny bump every 90 days to .34 at first year

.10 NE bonus on loaded miles DC and points north.

Possible to do mid 40's with them 1st year if you're a runner and know how to manage your time.

Not it really the company they used to be 3+ years ago when I started there. Really took a slide downhill the last 18 months.

I just moved on from there to much better things but not a bad place to train.

Won't be a problem, I plan on keeping TTR posted on what I experience here, good and bad(hopefully more good). I'll keep everyone posted, probably really well over the next week or so, as I pee in someone's cup tomorrow and take my road test. Then orientation until Thursday, before waiting until Sunday for my trainer to head out.

Lonesome, rambler and Nic99 Thank this.

Been here at CT since about 1:45. I have to say that it's nice. The people here are some of the friendliest I've met. Drivers are coming over to introduce themselves, before I had my key a customer service guy left his post real quick to get me through a door, and everyone is trying to be helpful. It's kinda weird to me lol. The tour was simple, but covered the bunk rooms, laundry rooms, showers/steamroom, kitchen area, driver lounge, computer area and vending area. The road test is simple, hook up to a trailer, go down 40 back come back. If there's someone else waiting you don't have to back. Now, for relax time and I'll update tomorrow.
