I talked to one of the recruiters today. I knew I would have to jump through a few hoops before I could get hired anywhere but it seems they want me to take a DOT physical with their doc so instead of taking one down here to start school I am going to make an appt to take one up there at Catawaba. I heard their doc is tough but that's ok my numbers are good. Right now its between CT and Abilene in my mind as my top two choices if I bomb out there with both then I guess Schneider tank would be my third choice

Yeah, the doctor is kinda tough. I gotta get a sleep study because he says I have risk factors and he wants a definitive answer. Oh well, didn't have that issue with my last DOT physical, but it'll get dealt with.

I don't know yet. I'll talk with someone tomorrow. If need be I'll pay for it. Everything looks too good here to let that get in the way.

I know and I am sure that is going to be my big stumbling block. I dont mind paying for it either but i also know i may not sleep as soundly, without a med, as i should. Being a big guy thats the first thing they think of checking after blood pressure of which mine is outstanding.

My blood pressure is always been great. I tend to sleep great and don't really snore. I don't have any trouble staying awake. But, doc says go have people watch me sleep, so that's what I'll do.

    DevilDog79 Thanks this.

Well, immediately after going over some Qualcomm stuff, we were dismissed for the day. I went to my room to drop off my handbook, FMCSR book, and all that stuff from class. I told operations I needed a company car to go get food and out the door I went... Until a guy passed me and asked if I was going to get food. I told him I was, and he asked to come along. Long story short, he just got back in and needed to do a quick VIR and hook to his load. He invited me to tag along, and he showed me some stuff on Qualcomm and I helped look for his trailer (second to last in the very back), helped him hook up and hoofed it up to the car and went to get some food. We talked and he said he likes it here and he thinks I'll enjoy it. I've never been anywhere where everyone is so helpful and really seem to care not only about how well you learn and perform, but you as a person. Now, I'm gonna keep reading, and get my mind off the stomach of Chinese food I shouldn't have eaten so much of.

    Lonesome and DevilDog79 Thank this.

We did a lot of QHOS stuff today. Went further into logging, how they want us to log, how to edit your logs, the Navigo and fuel ahead. Then, we did something I didn't expect. Today is the third Wednesday of the month, so we sat in a meeting. I gotta say I've never heard of any company this size taking so much interest in the employees happiness with the company. Company staff and drivers that are present get to bring up concerns and actually be heard. I honestly think I am right where I need to be. We also had a safety class and it was basically just brought things you should already know, back to your mind. I did learn a few things, but as a new driver, that's my job. Afterwards, the other drivers finished their orientation since they're not new. I show up in the morning finish up orientation, then head home until it's time to meet up with my trainer.

    DevilDog79 and Lonesome Thank this.

Kickstand did they tell you whether or not the company was going to pay for the sleep study? Those can usually run in price anywhere from $1000 to $5000 depending on the clinic and the parameters set for the study.
