PA is a PIA when it comes to parking. Don't get lost either like I have done driving down the main street in one of the old cities out there. Not a good time as a one truck parade through downtown.
I get stressed parking anywhere in the Northeast/Mid Atlantic after 7:00 PM. Makes me almost panic. Seriously.
Wish I would have seen this thread before my recent encounter and ticket at that Carlisle Wal-Mart. I was in sleeper status and Erkel's dad (the cop) had my truck and trailer towed out. Good times.... -
This guy that ticketed and towed me was a short, fat black cop in a SUV. Bet it was the same guy. -
Don't call the 800 number or send an email, write a letter, addressing it to their public relations department and state that there are other complaints on forums about this by other customers - do not say truckers.
The property owner's have limited power to do anything when they sign the contract with walmart, it is well thought out and on the side of walmart, not the property owner. However the city/township or county may have laws that prohibit commercial vehicle parking and this is where the rub is.
I've met with problems out in San Diego and in the north east trying to get supplies, calling them didn't do a thing but a visit to their HQ in bentonville gave me an insight to what is a store/corporate policy and what isn't. The store manager and regional manager does have some latitude but not when it comes to customers.
The one thing I was told is that you should always park your bobtail in a parking spot, not across several spots.DocWatson Thanks this. -
So what is their policy of allowing / not allowing trucks, in to shop?
-
If you're talking about the Carlisle/Mechanicsburg Walmart, trucks are not allowed, period. It's been this way ever since it became a supercenter a decade ago.
-
truckers themselves started all the problems we have over HOS , parking and cell phones
regulations go too far but that is how the pendulum swingsDocWatson Thanks this. -
First of all--I do not shop at or do biz w/Malwart--but Pete is right-00for the most part drivers have created this problem--BUT--If you must go to a Malwart or any other place to shop--the solution has been and always will be simple--PARK out back by the loading docks--and walk in--nobody ever questions a truck alongside a dock waitin to back in

I am of the understanding that customers are allowed at every store no matter what. The policy is set up to benefit the customer whether they are in an RV, truck or pickup. However the latitude of the manager/ regional manager is from what I understand made to allow them to work with the locals with their ordinances.
Again writing to them and complaining that that a customer is a customer and no matter what they need to respect the customer first no matter what they drive.
By the way, in San Diego, it isn't about the truckers, the regional manager I talked to after I visited Bentonville said the issue is and always has been with RV people camping there and then leaving mounds of trash for Walmart to clean up. When I was staying at one in Elkhart last year, there was a couple of RVs who trashed the place up and even tried to empty their holding tank into the sewer, which the cops caught them. All of the truckers around there even walked the carts back to the closest cart return to the building. -
Again and again, Walmart is just a tenant on this property and the property owner does not want trucks or bob tails on his property. It really has nothing to do with Walmart at this location.
