It should be against the law but its not and the op has to do what he has to do.

This is America. You have an oppertunity to better yourself. Goodluck.

On a seperate note. I have been chronicly Ill most of my life. I have accomplished most everything I choose to do. Nobody not even my illness will choose my destiny. I was going through a painful procedure and the dr said it would hurt. I looked right at him and said there is nothing you can do to me that I cannot endure. That is the attitude I bring to my life when times are tough. Look at the bigger goal when there is a pile of #### I front of you. Wade through it to the other side.

OK I thought it was because of the unfortunate path you took and CC basically was the only company that would give u a chance.

No wait...lol...that is very much the case! What I was trying to say was money isn't everything to me. As long as I'm not starving im happy. It's all about a better future for me and my son. That's what I meant by the the experience I'll be getting. To me that's worth it

Applaud OP for his changes and for bettering himself.

But, i gotta say, 10cpm is illegal. No doubt in my mind that Carolina Cargo could and should be sued for paying wayyyyyy under minimum wage. 10cpm x 5000 a week = $500 / 70hrs (minimum, not accounting for living in the truck) = $7.15 per hour. And thats running 5k a week.

Unbelievable really. Shame on Carolina Cargo for exploitation and i hope the CEO/owner gets what's coming to him.

To the OP....please start checking with all other companies ASAP. TransAm is a second chance company.

Don't worry about the truck stop parking. We were all new at one point. Heck, some days it still takes a few tries to get it in the spot.

Yes, that's the way it works there. It's a team operation and he gets .10 cpm for every dispatched mile whether he's driving or in sleeper berth. There's also bonus program for various things on top of the milage pay.
The OP is doing good and is keeping it in perspective.

It kills me that scum like Carolina cargo thrive off the system taking advantage of those trying to make a better life for themselves with limited options. .10 .12 cpm is slave wages.. im sure Carolina cargo is also getting some kind of government incentive for being a "2nd chance" employer.

I agree with some others about looking for a 1099 outfit.. pretty sure you will be hard pressed to find a WORSE employer.. Wish you the best of luck.. get your seat time and keep that record clean.. the older your past gets and the more seat time ya get the more more opputinities will surface.. keep your chin up and try not to advertise for your current scum bag employers.. there NOT doing you or any other or there employees any favors..
