Carolina Cargo do west coast turnarounds, from east coast to west coast and back. That's almost 7000 miles the truck moves and you do it in roughly a week. At .10 per mile, before taxes and any additional bonus pay, it's about 700 gross. It really will depend on how frugal you can be out on the road. But yea at that rate you can still pay the 800. You won't ever see the place you pay rent on and won't really be driving the car either. Can probably get rid of both and won't be a real noticeable change.

You should be ok if $800 is all you need for bills.
There's also accessorial pays on top of the milage pay. CC will explain that to you during orientation. I can't give details on that because I don't know the amounts. @seventhirty can explain the accessorial pays.

Math is pretty simple using 10.
.10 x 2800 miles per week x 4 weeks per month = $1,100 per month and you weren't home one day. Minus 20% taxes = $880.00 per month Net Divided by 4 weeks = $220.00 in the bank each week. Sweet!

    They also get accessorial pays.
It's approximately 2657 miles one way to where they pick up produce and about the same on the return. A team can do that once a week and they will and are expected to.
That's 5314 miles on an average round trip. 5314 X .10 = $531.40 in milage pay plus what ever accessorial pays earned on that trip for that week. Per his posts, he's running more miles than that. Sometimes they run Pacific Northwest also.
Keep in mind, each driver is paid for all dispatched miles to the truck whether they're driving or sleeping.

This thread started out as a nice story from a guy making the most of his second chance. That should be the main focus here. He is doing whatever is necessary to provide for his son and make a better life for both of them. Who cares what company he is working for. Everyone on this forum should know that every company is not a good fit for everyone. This man should be applauded for making a new start for himself and his son.

To heck with what anyone else thinks; you're doing good and your child will eat healthy foods. Keep up the good work.

Just as by the way. I am sure Carolina Cargo is a self insured company.

I am also sure they do reap tax benefits for the drivers they hire.

10cpm or even 20cpm is the real crime that is being committed here.

No.....according to @Chinatown as long as you are a puppet, willing to give every second of your pathetic life to a company, live in that truck, and work your balls off day in and day out, kiss your family good bye for months at a time, and kiss everyone else's ***.....10 cents a mile is GREAT money.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

P.S.- I would rather stick a pair of left handed scissors through my right temple.
