I was a dog groomer for many years. Most people do not understand the repetitive movements that groomers need to do. I am right handed but my left hand was actually the most affected because that is the hand I held the dogs with. My hand would actually seize up. I would have to stop what I was doing and open my hand up. My right hand would hurt sometimes too.
Since I started driving I have never had that problem.
I don’t see how carpal tunnel can be a problem with driving, but I am not a doctor.
You should ask a doctor if you are concerned about it.

that's what it comes down to, lifetime relief (the operation)

or lifetime misery (the splint or band-aid)

i have always chosen lifetime relief over a band-aid.

10-4 on the pain waking you up in the middle of the night. I tried the steroids and braces which helped a little. It’s difficult to understand how your hands can be numb and in pain at the same time, but all I knew was when I woke up after only a couple of hours of sleep and no position would help and I would walk around shaking my hands out I had to do something.

I had the endoscopic surgery release on my right hand which stopped the pain/numbness but after a year and a half I still can’t close my hand as tightly as I should be able to, it just doesn’t grip as well. After the surgery my left wrist released on it’s on for about six months and then came back. For the left wrist I selected another surgeon and he opened it up rather than do the endoscopic surgery. I had a little longer recovery but the results were 100%. The surgeon said that the ligament that’s cut for the release was extremely thick (The thickest he had seen) and he had some problems cutting it.

I was one of the fortunate ones that never developed this problem in either wrist. I did ask a Physician several years ago about how this happens. The "carpal tunnel" is nerve passageways through the carpal area of the wrist. This area can be injured by a direct blow that causes one of these bones to press against that nerve or by swelling. People that use keyboards a lot have a higher instance of developing this problem as well. Most everybody I know that has had the surgery is 100% better today.

Anyone have commitments on stiff hands/fingers? I started flatbed about 6 months ago and recently I have been noticing some mornings when I wake up and stretch, like the first arm stretch even before I throw off the covers, feels like all the joints in my fingers are stuck. Kinda painful, very strange. I'm basically in good health, only occasionally a little pain from an old shoulder problem. All I can think of is bungies, pulling and folding tarps. Other than that everything I do is pretty gentle the way I work.
It's got me a little baffled. Could it be the steering wheel?
